Hi all,
Basically I want to record piano playing in stereo without spending any money. I have no mixer but I have mics and connectors etc. I had decided the best way was to plug one mic into the first mic in on my audigy 2 platinum, and pan it completely to the left using windows mixer, then plug in mic 2 into the second mic in, and pan it right, thus getting stereo sound. (I am not mad on sound quality, I enjoy all my music in ogg format at 64Kbps, but mono sounded rubbish..)
Anyway I then found I could only select one input at a time for recording. Usinf the creative controls it only allows you to select one, and using the windows controls,if you tick one and try to tick another, it swaps the ticks.
Can my audigy 2 not record from two inputs simultaneaously? If it can please tell me how! Is it software? I have Nero sound editor, creative sound thing and cubasis vst 4.0. I don't want to spend anything if possible, so please if it is the software, can you reccomend something free or with a free trial.
Cheers!
Patsoe
There is physically only one ADC present, be it stereo. You can only record one stereo stream at a time.

But I don't see your problem? You want to record two mono mics, and there's a stereo input?

Thanks for the reply.

Well the problem is how am I gonna put two mono mics into one stereo input, without a mixer? I haven't got a mixer and I'm not getting one, and I couldn't think how to shove both mics into one input. I have dual adapters, but that would just cause both mono channels to be mixed into a single channel wouldn't it?
As you can tell I don't know that much about this stuff so I'm really greatful for your help. Thanks again

Hit Radio Shack. Get a dual mono to stereo adapter. I think for your purposes, it'll do the trick.
