What is a decent DVD-ROM drive for ripping audio CDs with EAC? I am finally deciding to get one and sure to rip some DVDs as well; however, good error recovery and speed for audio ripping is most important. Thanks for any suggestions!

Based on my eperiences, LiteOn drives are very good at Audio CD ripping.

yeah, i have been doing some reading, looks like the lite-on XJ-HD166 is nice one, not the cheapest though, but not bad

I'd have to second that vote for Lite-on. I've been using Lite-on drives for 3 years now, and they've always produced good ripping results. The company is also pretty good about releasing firmware updates to increase media compatability.

Yeah - everyone in HA seems to give Lite-on a good wrap. In my experience the cd-rw drives are excellent.

Question: Are the Lite-on DVD RW drives also good for audio ripping? I'm thinking here of the 451s or the 812s.

I have had an LTC-48161H for a few months now. It is a CDRW-DVD reader. It has burned fine, and the audio extraction is first rate. It is my primary ripper now, even doing better than my Plextor 16/10/40 and my Toshiba SD-M1502.
