you've seen usb sound cards, right? well, how about a teeny tiny bare-bones version with just a headphone output, for plugging into pcs that don't otherwise have audio output?

i'm at work right now, and the crappy it department doesn't keep up these machines terribly well. it'd be awesome if i could bring in a set of headphones and a device like this and use it to access my winamp ml_www during my shifts.

Try Xitel's HiFi Link.

It's actually what I'm using on my main setup, I don't need to record, don't need digital out, nor surround out. Quality's quite good, standard 20-bit Philips DAC.

I use the Xitel too. It doesn't have a headphone jack though. Check Headroom (http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicID=3&subTopicID=27&productID=0000010003) and see if their BitHead product is ready. It is a combined USB DAC+headphone amp. I have their Total AirHead and love it.
