Brasso or Silvo will help remove scratches (works great for both DVD's and CD's). As an abrasive material, it essentially removes layers of the disc (of course, the layers are extremely thin, you'd never see it). Still you should be careful when using it. Don't clean in circles, use a side-to-side motion. PAR2 is an excellent idea to.

@ kl33per - looks like I will be needing some Brasso or Silvo.
About this par2. Do I create the par2 files of data before the data is copied to cd, and then copy the par2 files to the same cd?
So if errors do occure, I can use the same par2 software to recover the data. is that right?
