I have some data cds containing mp3, avi, and even some office document files.

The problem is that they have some scratches on them and I cant open certain files.

Is there anything like EAC for data cds?

Thanks for the software titles, CDCheck seems to be getting throw the cd right now as I type.

PAR2 error recovery files sounds very interesting, but its the first time iv heard of it. Please tell more, e.g. links, tutorials, websites etc

Isobuster works pretty good for data recovery from messed up CD's.

Brasso or Silvo will help remove scratches (works great for both DVD's and CD's). As an abrasive material, it essentially removes layers of the disc (of course, the layers are extremely thin, you'd never see it). Still you should be careful when using it. Don't clean in circles, use a side-to-side motion. PAR2 is an excellent idea to.

About this par2. Do I create the par2 files of data before the data is copied to cd, and then copy the par2 files to the same cd?

So if errors do occure, I can use the same par2 software to recover the data. is that right?
