You know what I'm talking about... 5 different names for the same artist. A "(1)" after half the songs. I've tried a bunch, including MusicMatch and a lot the do-it-yourself taggers. The best one I've found so far is FixTunes (http://www.fixtunes.com )

It actually does what it claims to do. Anyone have any other programs that do this well? I have way to many songs to fix the tags by name. So far, FixTunes is the best program I've found to fix mp3 tags.

Case's Tag can apply tags basing on filenames, automatically. Otherwise you can set filename schemes

i just checked out the fixtunes site. it looks really promising, and i'm planning on spending a few bucks to give it a good test. they say they're using the same database as amazon.com, which is done by a company called loudeye. anyone know anything about it?

i noticed, though, that some of the original poster's language is the same as that on the fixtunes site ("you know what i'm/we're talking about"), and in searching for more info, i came across a virtually identical post he made on afterdawn (Program for fixing incorrect MP3 tags / labels). what's the policy around here regarding covert shills?

hmmm ... seems like a gratuitous plug. I thought I'd got rid of the advertising when I paid my subscription!

Not that I'm saying fixtunes is a dud. I'm just being a little sceptical. Apologies to Daniel757 is this is a genuine post. As far as fixing tags I happily use Tag&Rename for all my needs - well worth the cash I forked out to feel happy about using it.
