Full Version: FLAC not gapless in Winamp 5.02

Hello all!!! I'm new to the forum and to FLAC (not to audio encoding...just FLAC). I've installed the Winamp plugin that came with the install package but my tracks are still playing back with gaps. I looked in my Winamp\Plugins and there is a file there called out_gapless.dll so I don't think Winamp is the problem. I tried the crossfading set to 0 trick but no luck. Any ideas. BTW I rip with EAC and have for awhile. I always read people talking about configuring their "offsets" but don't really know what this is about. Could this be the problem? I've looked in EAC but did not see anywhere to configure offsets. Thanks for any help. I searched before I posted this but could not find any relevent information (so if I missed it please don't flame too hard).

Which Winamp version are you using?

The gapless plugin found on the Winamp site didn't work for me, so I switched back to DirectSound and increased the pre-buffering time from 0 to 500 and that helped. Other than that, I recommend foobar2000, but that's you decision. smile.gif

I switched to foobar2000 and all is well, but I must admit foobar can be pretty intimidating at first. Know of any good tutorials? Also even though I uninstalled Winamp my popup memu still show my mp3s as "Winamp media files." Anyone know how to correct this annoyance? I tried running a registry cleaner and even cleaned out all things Winamp in the registry myself but it was no help. mad.gif

If you intend to use foobar2000 as your main audioplayer, then run the fooassoc.exe program which is in your foobar2000 directory. (There's probably a link to it from the start menu as well.) When the window for fooassoc comes up, choose mp3 and click on OK to associate mp3 with foobar2000.

Thanks, I realized that during install I neglected to associate foobar with mp3s. blush.gif I know...my bad. Thanks for the reply.

I do have another problem though. When I try to open a playlist in foobar the console pops up and give me an error message like this:

INFO (CORE) : opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "file://C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff\Desktop\foobar2000\FLAC\metallica - live @ the cow palace - sf, ca (03.08.2004) disc 1.fpl" (0)

This I'm completely stumped on.
