Sir_Fresh
Hey,

Sorry if it's asked before but I couldn't find a topic. I downloaded some songs on the internet wich the creator says are encoded by lame 3.90.3 and eac. How can I found out with wich encoder the mp3's are ripped and if he indeed used lame 3.90.3 and if he used joint stereo or stereo.

Oh,

How can you turn off that annoying peep eac occasionally makes when ripping.

EncSpot is pretty good. http://www.guerillasoft.nstemp.com/EncSpot2/

Although if they are 3.90.3 encodes, EncSpot will report 3.90 not 3.90.3.

I don't think there is a way to tell what ripper was used. Except listen to the mp3's for any inconsitencies.
Sir_Fresh
Thanks for the fast reply. Really helpful.

I also use encspot pro version but i was under impression that all development is abandoned??But the site is up and you can even buy it???Is it development started again??If somebody knows more please post.
Btw,i dont using it now but i remember that that zoomplayer3beta repoerted a ripper on few songs(songs were ripped with eac0.9b4 and it guessed right),and i really dont have idea if its that feature still developed?
Also if somebody knew some better app then encspot, let us know couse i think many people would like to have that.
Ultimately, the best would be to have a plugin for foobar couse it already reports everything about the file except encoder used cool.gif

Did these songs happen to have "Ripped with EAC 0.9b4" in the comments
field of their id3 tags? smile.gif
Sir_Fresh
Any thought on that annoying sound eac makes.
Raffles
On the general tab of EAC's options untick "Beep after extraction finished".

It not only beeps when ripping is finished, it also does it when a compression task finishes and there are no others queued. wink.gif

No, unfortunately it's only an archived copy of the EncSpot website. The original developer (Jon Dee) seems to be out of sight.
There has been some development in another project on mp3 encoder identification by Felzkrone (this thread), I don't know what it's current status is though.

It seems there is an (two?) ongoing project(s) by Feltzkrone and Sebastian Mares to develop a successor to EncSpot.

and also, just a couple of days ago:
