Hey,

I'm ripping my music collection and noticed I think glitches in my brand new original cd's. They are:

Jay-Z - the Blueprint - U Don't Know - Track 6 - At +/- 8 seconds
The music stops for for a very short time and the goes on.

Groove Armada - Goodbye Country - Superstylin' - Track 2 - At +/- 54 seconds
It's some strange 'volumechange' for one second.

Is there anyboy who got these cd's and can listen if they have the same glitches.

If people have other original cd's that contain a glitch please post them.

I noticed (mostly small) glitches or clicks in original CDs many times. First I believed it to be an error in the ripping process, but after repeated ripping also with another drive it remained exactly the same. If you are focussed on audio quality, like most HA members are, you will hear them more often. Sometimes I even 'repaired' a nasty spot in an original CD before encoding tongue.gif
At the moment I have no examples at hand.

A Swing Out Sister's song "Forever Blue"(around 1:09) seems to contain a glitch. I bought 2 their albums "Kaleidoscope World" and "The Best Of Swing Out Sister" include that song(and same glitch).

I also noticed a small glitch from Michael Jackson's Man in the mirror(around 4:30).

yep - Garbage V2.0 - 'Medication', thought it was the Plextools rip, but it's on the CD.

Original CDs with glitches :

Kraftwerk - ComputerWelt : the tape speeds down at the end of "Computerliebe".
Anonymus - Graduel d'Aliénor de Bretagne - Ensemblme Organum : many little clicks everywhere in the recording.
AmGod - Half Rotten and Decayed : tracks start about 1/2 second before the track markers
Mike Oldfield - Discovery : track 1 begins in the pregap.

Edit : Klaus Schulze - Beyond Recall : DAT glitch at the beginning of track 3
nyarlathotep
Love - Forever Changes - Track 3 - Andmoreagain
Small glitches @ 1:30 & @ 2:46
Present on both unremastered and remastered editions.
Didn'y check if they were also/already present on the original vynil LP though ("lost" it with some ex girlfriend).

OK, i'll bite.

Big Brother and the Holding Company - Cheap Thrills.
half a verse missing at the start of "ball and chain". thankfully i've got the LP (though my cartridge b0rked last night mad.gif )

hmm... some obscure blues title i forget the name of... beat this: whole right channel was inverted for the entire CD! flick the amp to mono and the sound disappears almost completely (rather like the difference channel on a not-so-wide stereo recording).

of course, the standard "track-begins-with-tiny-bit-from-last-track" comes up all the time.

and i think all new titles coming out in australia and much of europe are b0rk to begin with, but that's a different issue (CDS200).

Vienna State Opera Orchestra - National Anthems Of The World
One of the channels is inverted on the CD, making it very weird to listen to. Invert the channel in CoolEdit and it sounds fine.

album only? i only bought singles and don't remember any glitches on the single if this one...

edit: omg, brainfart. it was BeautifulGarbage i didn't buy the album, just a single or three...

Theres a glitch on The Corrs song, Radio. It was evident on both the single, and my greatest hits album. It occures at 0:07. Seeing as its a recording of an MTV Unplugged track (was never recorded properly, was released as a single in this form), i rekon it was an error or glitch in the live recording.

There is a pretty obvious glitch in 'Heroes' on Aphex Twin's '26 Mixes for Cash.'

The rumor is that Warp records couldn't get a hold of the master tapes for this track and they sourced it from mp3! blink.gif

The original release doesn't have the glitch.

Just to name a few annoying

Bis ans Ende der Welt - Soundtrack
Track 11 Depeche Mode - Death´s door First ~30 seconds 5db more silent in the left channel followed by a big click then just fine

Elend - Les Ténèbres Du Dehors (Remastered!!)
Track 1 a big stutter at 3.44 like some samples are missing completely

Alfred Schnittke - Gogol Suite/Labyrinths (1991/92)
In nearly every song some clicks in the material. There are really silent parts it hurts to have these clicks

I've found errors on mint/new CDz too.

Cult - Love (Remaster)

Cure - Seventeen Seconds

Skinny Puppy - Rabies

Tony Bennett - MTV Unplugged
criZZb
Béla Fleck and the Flecktones - 'Greatest Hits of the 20th Century'.

Track no. 3 - 'Flight of the Cosmic Hippo' has an annoying glitch at the 3rd second or so, if you look closer to it, you'll find that the channels are swapped for several hundred samples, then swapped back.

This one is old news but worth repeating.

On the CD, "The Beatles Past Masters", the track "She Loves You" seems to change ambience and loudness of the cymbals about 5 times during the tracks run.
The problem is that the cd mastering process revealed the edits in the song. For the cd "The Beatles 1", "She Loves You" was remastered so to better hide the edit points. And they did a pretty good job of it. Beatle collectors will tell you of numerous other glitches that appear on various releases that are too numerous to list here-this is probably the most obvious one to a casual listener.

all Type O Negative albums since BK do this sad.gif
I had to cut&paste every album after ripping on millisecond range because mostly there are no gaps... took me 2 hours or so

I remember one of the Guns 'n Roses "Use your Illusion" CDs had a defect in one song at a certain spot, not only mine but all my friend's also.

And yes I had some new, clean CDs with glitches in the past (probably pressing errors due to weakened stampers), just return them to the store and have it replaced.
Cygnus X1
Rush - Permanent Waves (1980) - 3.) "Jacob's Ladder," small click (1/10''') right at the end of the 2:00 mark, verified on 2 discs.

That's weird, you won't be able to read such a CD in secure mode without EAC reporting errors.

I borrowed three copies of Pink Floyd's The Wall to confirm that there is a glitch at the very beginning of Comfortably Numb. It's within the first second, almost as soon as you hit play. Happens on all three copies, even in a normal audio CD player.

I don't hear any glitch in my copy

Edit: A copy I dl'ed online for a quick comparison did contain the error....I guess some pressings have it and some don't.

It's extremely timely that you mentioned this because just today I ripped 2.0 for my girlfriend using PlexTools. I noticed the pops on Medication, but the disc was perfect, so I didn't think it was PT.

I don't know what to tell you. I have three copies here that have a small glitch in the same spot using every CD player and CD-ROM drive I own, and both PlexTools and EAC report 100%. Maybe they are from a closely-related flawed pressing or something...

I find a much better way to remedy the problem is to temporarily adjust your Offset in EAC. wink.gif

Um, anyway... The audio-CD portion of the PC game eXtreme G 2 has clicking throughout.

Also, on Ozzy Osbourne's The Ozzman Cometh, in the track Back On Earth, there's one point when Ozzy is wailing when his voice gets severely lowered in volume for a tiny fraction of a second.

Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express.. really irritating, I always get bothered by the glitches..
