Hi
So my copy of Exact Audio Copy v0.95 prebeta 4 doesn't recognize my Plextor 16/10/40A CD-writer, nor my new MSI 16/40 DVD-ROM drive. Both are IDE devices and, apart from the EAC issue, operate perfectly well.
I must have tried just about any drive option in EAC (F10) there is, all it keeps telling me is "no audio tracks found", "no CD found", "drive does not contain a music CD", or something the like. Even though I have an audio CD in both drives while testing.
But the strange thing is that EAC does detect the first two (and only the first two) of the virtual CD drives emulated by Alcohol 120%. No matter how many virtual drives I set Alcohol to emulate, EAC just refuses to see them, from the third one up. Anyway, ripping my audio CDs with Alcohol or CloneCD to an image file and then emulating the latter in one of the two recognized virtual drives is the way I've been EAC'ing my CDs so far. Which are two time and effort consuming steps too many, in my view. And I hope you'll agree.
CDex, for that matter, does perfectly detect both physical drives and extracts the audio without any apparent difficulty.
Further system specs:
Asus A7V133 MB
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4 GHz CPU
768 MB of SDRAM @ 133 MHz
Maxtor dunno-what 40 GB HD
MS WinXP Home SP1
Just upgraded to EAC v0.95 prebeta 5. That doesn't fix it either.
Any useful suggestion would be most appreciated.
