Full Version: superframe error - not idv2!

Hi all,

I've just got into mpc and have started (slowly) archiving all my CDs.

But was at a friends house and ripped all his CDs and got a weird error

"Superframe size!=1, not supported anymore! Please decode with command line tool."

And the file will not play.

I've posted this in some other forums and seen a post in this forum and all have respondents have said turn off idv2

Only problem is I wasn't using idv2.

I ripped with EAC and used it as a front end for mppenc. Tagging was done by EAC.

The weird thing is I ripped loadsa CDs all in the same session with the same equipment (ok there was drink involved as well) and most came out fine.

Anyone any ideas?

id3v2 added by EAC wink.gif
disable under compression option

sorry I don't understand what you're saying.

EAC didn't add any IDv2s. None of the affected mpcs have v2 tags (or the other ok files).

No config changes were made to EAC between CDs that ripped ok and those that did not.

What version of EAC and mppenc are you using?
Jan S.
Are you using the latest plugin?
If you are can you put up this file somewhere?
I would like to see it.
It must be corrupted somehow.

Don't post plugin, upload the track that causes problems somewhere. Even just the beginning is enough (100KB or so).

Ooops, I'm using v1.7.9f winamp plugin on my standalone mp3 player.

On my laptop I've got 0.92m. Weird thing is the I've managed to get the laptop (0.92m) to play the affected mpcs. (this wasn't happening before, can't figure out what I've done)

I ran encspot and its showing the affected mpcs as bad quality and a bitrate of zero (winamp (0.92m) is showing a variable bitrate).

mmmmm.

Someone will have to tell me how to split a mpc (mp3trim maybe?) in order to post a sample.

No need, those files have ID3v2 tags.
discodougie
sorry, don't understand which files?

Everything was encoded with mppenc 1.01j - some came out ok some didn't.
Looked to see if there was id3v2 on any and nope none did. All got id3v1.1

EAC adds both tags, ID3v1 and ID3v2. Old MPC plugin 1.7.9f can't skip ID3v2 tag in the beginning, that's the reason you can't play your files with it. 0.92m supports skipping of some ID3v2 tags, but some tags still cause problems and those files are unplayable.
Winamp plugin can't tell if your files have ID3v2 tags, but you can check this with my Tag. You can also use it to remove them.

Btw, you can also verify the existence of ID3v2 tag by opening your file in any text editor and see if 3 first characters are ID3.
discodougie
ok thanks for the info

checked with a text editor and lo it said id3.

does this mean I shouldn't use EAC to tag?

Now I need to figure out wtf the merits of id3v1 vs ape tags are. But I'll start another thread on that.

I'm off to my kip, goodnight
