Topic says it. I'm assuming there is still no way for iTunes to play 'em.

You're correct. ATM, there is no way to play FLAC files directly in iTunes. Until a QT FLAC component is written (assuming that one is still in the works), try MacAMP Lite (http://www.macamplite.com/) and its FLAC plugin (http://www.arcticlounge.com/maltx/index.php). They both work very well under OSX, although I don't think you can seek within a FLAC file, IIRC.

XMMS via X11 and VLC also play FLAC files in OSX. Hopefully the next version of iTunes will natively support FLAC.

I have not been thrilled about the idea of using VLC to play audio files since I have always considered it to be primarily a video player. But after some testing with Flac and the new version of Lame, I have found it to be quite good as a music player. It supports .m3u playlists and processor usage is fairly low.
I have noticed some minor issues with using VLC with Flac files:
1. VLC does not seem to recognize Flac metadata. File name is displayed.
2. Playing time is not displayed while playing a Flac file.
