I mean those from
http://www.din.or.jp/~glit/TheOddStage/Pro...utobuild_e.html
Are they stable builds? Is it advisable to always use the latest binary?
Every developer would say no if you ask should you use those builds for permanent encodings, unless the build has been checked througly.
But people always want "the latest and greatest", so they don't listen what devs try to say anyway...

RCx for archival/everyday encoding
latest build for testing
...why does ogg vorbis take forever to release stable binaries, anyway?

Only one programmer/tweaker/tester.

Because they want their stuff to be 100% working before calling it stable.
(Remember how long it took for LAME to release stable binaries? 3.70->3.90)

btw, on my computer oggdec from Roberto's page (dated 15/05) makes crappy sounding wavs for no apparent reason.
The older oggdec (from xmixahlx bundle, 01/04) runs ok.

Same thing happens to me too. Use WinAmp's Diskwriter plugin instead.

This is what a oggdec 1.2 (15/05) decoded file looks like in CoolEdit: No wonder it sounds crappy

WTF...
Well, I'll report that to Edwards ASAP.
Sorry about the problem.

Thanks for the graphics, Speek, that helped point me to the source. I changed the way certain variables were set and forgot to set a rather critical default value!!!!!. New version 1.31 already uploaded to Roberto.
Once again - sorry!
Please don't say sorry. I love all the great software you make.
Hi
Yesterday I made an image of Depeche Mode's Ultra using EAC v0.9 beta4. EAC was configured to save it as an Ogg compressed image (as a test) using OggEnc from the DailyVorbis package dated 2002-05-16 from RareWares. I noticed that about 45% through the rip and encode process WinXP gave me Virtual Memory errors. These errors do not happen if I use OggEnc from Vorbis.com.
Is there a problem with the OggEnc binary from Rarewares?
Cheers
