Forgive me if this is nothing new, but I encoded a track with lame 3.96 using --preset standard and then with -V 2. The outputs were bit for bit the same. Likewise for --preset extreme and -V0.
Has anyone else noticed this on these or other -V settings?

V0 = extreme
V2 = standard
V4 = medium
I believe the mapping presets to -V
x was done in 3.95
Here's a table:

Thanks....
This should be useful with certain apps that do not support the --preset functions directly.
the table isn't correct anymore. I think that Gabriel switched the minimum bitrate for --aps to 128 bps instead of 96 kbps.
