is there a program out there that does this well? i have tryed a few in the past (so long ago that i forget what ones) with little success.
is there even one that does an ok job? lol

Encspot will report sync errors.
There may be better ones but
MP3Utility is the one I use for checking synchronization (and other) errors in my mp3 files.
