I want to encode a few CDs using HE AAC but using Nero it seems to be a pretty slow process and I was wondering whether there's a quicker, preferably more automated way of doing it?
I've encoded one CD so far and I did the following:
* load WAV into Nero Wave Editor
* Save As .mp4 file
Do I have to do this for every track, or am I missing something?
I'm new to Nero, and I read that Nero Digital has the H.264/AVC video codec. Which of the Nero demo downloads have this codec in it, and how do you transcode from MPEG-2 (DVB-T recording) to AVC?
TIA,
Steve

Hopefully the next update to Nero will have the AVC video codec support and the parametric HE AAC audio codec. I believe that it has previously been stated here on HA that it will.
Nero should be able to encode into HE AAC a whole CD. Go into Nero SmartStart, Click on the "Expert Mode" button near the bottom, then you should see more Audio options under the "Audio" menu/link. Select "Rip CD Tracks" and then you can select the tracks (up to a whole Audio CD) that you want to rip, and then you can select/change the "Output File Format" to mp4/MPEG 4 Audio and select the appropriate HE AAC setting your desire.
Hopefully in the next update this feature will be enhanced with an option to allow ripping directly to the m4a file extension as well. Both Menno and Ivan have told me here on HA that they will likely add the feature to allow Nero users to select a mp4 or m4a file extension, but right now you can only save to mp4.
That's about it. Hopefully this helps solve your problem and answers the questions you are having. Also, it should prevent you from having to load each track individually into the Nero WAV editor to save it to MP4.

start nero burning rom, clicky on extras/encode tracks. (there are other ways of course, but this one is easy enough for my taste)

Thanks very much to both of you. I've got the Nero Burning way working (Nero doesn't like my DVD drive for some reason).
To guest 0101: If I want the AVC codec do I need to wait until the next release before I buy it, or can I update for free after buying Nero?

You'll just be able to upgrade (unless they release version 7, which is pretty damn unlikely).
