I have a newly burned cdr that I'm trying to rip with EAC but it seems like it's full of errors.
Even though EAC is able to correct all of them (it seems, the rip is not finished) I get the wonderful speed of 0.1x instead of 2-3x that I usually get and many errors are reported and corrected.
What can cause this?
I just installed the new ASPI, I hope that doesn't have anything to do with it.

on a similar note I have a cd that so far seems unrippable, The Beatles- One, its not protected, is in perfect condition and yet it defies any cd player (I've tried it on 5 different ones) Its a pain because its one cd that I really want to back up.

I believe the beatles 1 cd is protected.....So I've heard....
I actually have that cd so I might should try to rip it.

From what I have seen, Computer CD drives can really struggle trying to rip audio from a CD-R (as opposed to a CD bought in the shops).

Don't ask me why, it is just an observation from lots of tests with differing discs on lots of drives...

"Beatles - 1" protected? Not the one i had. Ripped fine on two different drives.

Jan: Install ASAPI and rip the CD again with it. It can peacefully co-exist with ASPI. Then you see if it's the new ASPI's fault or not. http://www.vobsupport.de/Update/ASAPI.exe

Procedure: Install, reboot, select ASAPI in EAC.

About beatles one....I couldn't find any articles about the protection I remember hearing about other than some newbie having trouble with the overburning....And another one that couldn't rip it with clonecd but could with EAC.
Anyway.....I'll look some more....I'm sure I saw it somewhere...

Your CDR must be either bad quality, or burned too fast.
Which brand is it, and how fast did you burn it, and with which burner ?

Post the ATIP if you can.

I didn't burn it myself so all I know is the brand.

So it's a CDR burned in a standalone burner.
The problem is well known : standalone burners burn bad data at the very beginning of the first track. EAC slows down to begin the extraction, but doesn't recover the speed after this.
The solution is to skip the bad data. Try to extract the track 1 "by range" (use the "snap track" button to position the end cursor at the end of the track), but skipping sector 1. Or 2 or 3 if it's not enough.
This way EAC will begin the reading on a good part of the CDR.

Some drives are probably not able to do so. For example my Plextor speeds up after errors.

That's a difficult one....
Try changing the setting "allow speed reduction". It may work in one way or the other.

hm...it still find errors on the rest of the cd (in all tracks, atleast the first couple)....speed dropping.
but not as much as before.

ok....this is how it went.

it seems ALL tracks start with these bad sectors.
If I skip the first 2 sectors at the start of every track it rips fine. Otherwise it's impossible.

I gave up and tried burst mode.
It seemed some of the last tracks needed too much to be removed.

thats already on...it seems it find errors everywhere.
