Does anyone know how to split an album saved as a one file mp3? What software would I use?

You could go with musiCutter as well.

Have the correct cuesheet would probably be beneficially also.

mp3Trim (http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim/) can split if u have cue-sheet

I tried the following:
1. I used a cue-file (see dreamliners post) and mp3DirectCut (see boojums post) and voilá.
2. If you don't find the cue file: Try the CueMaster. It contacts freeDB and creates a cue file for you!
