Ok people, I have a MOV file which contains MPEG-4 Video & MPEG-4 AAC.

How do I convert it into an ISO MP4?

QuickTime only allows you to make an MP4 if you recode, but that would mean a tremendous quality loss.

Also,
is it possible to use Nero HE-AAC,
is it possible to use XviD Simple@L3 coming from an AVI,
and create an ISO MP4?

Thanks

hm quicktime offers a pass trough option, but maybe its only there with quicktime pro
or your video stream isnt mpeg-4 complaint (sorenson isnt mpeg-4!)

you can also try to remux it with 3ivx!
create this graph in graphedit:
.mov (file source async) -> 3ivx splitter -> 3ivx muxer -> .mp4 (file writer)

of course, this should be possible with most mp4 muxers available
the best ones are the 3ivx muxer and mp4box from gpac

Thanks for your swift reply Bond!

Stupid me, I didn't check the pass through option, but I found it just after submitting this post.

I just wish the program I'm using (Vegas 4.0) supported QuickTime 6+, thus saving me this extra step.

Yes, there is. You can use a Graphedit solution like bond suggested to extract the video and audio tracks from the MOV file. Just connect the 3ivx splitter to file writers.

You might be able to open the file directly in VirtualDub since it can use DirectShow filters. I haven't tested this though.

If you must have a DivX/MP3 AVI, you need to transcode at least the audio track and possibly the video track too. Tools like AviSynth, VirtualDub and BeSweet can be used to transcode both video and audio tracks. Just be prepared to see a huge drop in audio/video quality.
