I've been recording 48khz wav files but I just noticed (after a few were done) my razor lame setting of straight --alt-preset standard doesn't resample to 44.1.

Is it true 44.1 is optimal rate for lame? And should I add the resample the encode like such. --resample 44.1 --alt-preset standard

Dont add the resample

Lames work on 48khz perfectly and resamplgin wodul jsut do this

48wav -> 44.1mp3 -> 48PCM

as mostsoundcards upsamples to 48 whem doing playback.

soem cards do a REALLY shitty 44.< 49kh zupsampling (SBlive)
and since you will not get quality by resampling it should be avoided

But the problem is that the presets weren't tuned for a 48kHz input.

i have abxed lower preset (48 vs 44.1) - alt preset 128 in favor of 44.1 version, so to put it simple -> abx and you shall hear.
