Hello!
I have a small question.
I'm encoding M4A using NENCODE + Nero 6.3.1.10 DLLs.
The decoded (by FAAD) wave-file contains frequencies only under 16.5 Khz (even @ LC, 320 Kbps CBR)... Why?
The strangeness is: if I encode the file using NERO (not NENCODE), all the frequencies are preserved.
Thank you.

Äm using aacenc 2.6.2.2 and EziiEncode (nencode is acting very strange)
not a problem.
Try using vbr extreme preset or audiophile preset

So you are saying that you get different files when you are using Nencode? Are you certain?
I am using Nencode too, and i did a test like this before i began to use it (i wanted to be sure).
I encoded a wav from Foobar 2000 using the command line encoder, pointing it to nencode. Then i encoded the same wav directly from nero (using the same encoder setting).
I decoded the two AACs to wav in Foobar 2000. The MD5 sum of the two wav files were identical. So i could conclude that using Nencode would give me the same results as encoding directly from Nero.
I did this test using files from an older version of Nero though. I haven't tested the new one yet. Are you sure that you haven't updated your Nero version without copying the new Nero dlls to your Nencode directory? Then you would be using two different versions of the encoder.

I can't confirm this...
I am currently using EAC with nencode and the latest Nero dll's. My files encoded using the "transparent" setting have frequency cutoffs of around 18.4 khz. I'm not sure what to say... maybe some sort of dsp is active when you decode to wav?

I tried again, this time using the Nero 6.3.1.10 dlls, VBR transparent setting.
I decoded the AACs to WAV using Foobar 2000, and the WAV files were identical.
I decoded the AACs to WAV using Winamp too, and those WAV files were also identical.

I'm confused.
I really don't know what is the reason of the problem. Here what I perform:
I encoded a file with NENCODE @ 320 Kpbs CBR, LC profile (NERO DLLs v6.3.1.10). Then I took FAAD (121,344 bytes, 11.Jan.2004) and used it to decode M4A. I definitely see that the frequencies above 16.5 Khz were cut.
Then I tried to chose VBR/Transparent preset (VBR 110-150 Kbps) and this worked GOOD (there was almost no cut - only at 20 Khz).
How this can be possible?
I.e. the problem is with CBR encoding.

You are right
I encoded a AAC file at 320 kbps CBR using both nero and nencode.
When i decoded the files from Foobar 2000, the wav files i got were different!
How could this happen? I thought nencode just ran the nero encoder, nothing more? I hope the developers of the nero encoder will make it possible to run the encoder from the commandline without any other tool, so we don't have to worry.

So, as you all can see I'm not alone with this problem...
Any ideas?
Thanks.

This sounds strange, are the LF cut within nencode or the aacenc.?
I use EziiEncode, and the files sounds brighter to me.

Does anybody know why nencode produces different files than nero on certain settings? Will anything be done to fix this?

Isn't EziiEncode just a frontend for nencode?

I realy don`t know for sure, from what i read it should be.
It seems that EziiEncode and Nencode do output difference,
but why so.?
