Well guys.

I'm just lurking around, as Im listening to music on this wonderful set of speakers... With latest winamp using in_mpg123 ot68 and ASIO output 0.44, 32 bit float out, Top quality resampling...

Most of my mp3's are 192 or VBR lame encoded files, most are gapless, but I think that has alot to do with my plugin setups too.

I have a decent amount of albums Ive ripped to 320kb, And on my Klipsch Ultras, I notice that there may be alot of added definition and clarity using 320 alt preset insane, over most 192 rips.

Is this just placebo? Or is there some truth to the bearing subject?

I'm looking to get the most out of the MP3 Codec and my klipsch ultras without always having to swap cds that are prone to skip on me sad.gif

Any personal opinions would benefit me greatly smile.gif

(Btw I use 0db Replaygain Album settings as well.. not sure if this is a good practice or not, considering all my 6000 songs worth of albums are all on the same winamp playlist that I use all the time.)

This site is a little different (in a good way). We don't go by opinion around here, we test for placebo using double-blind analysis (ABX testing).

This has led us to the understanding that for MP3, you can get transparently CD quality sound using LAME 3.96 --preset standard virtually every time. Anything beyond that is a waste of space. Some still recommend LAME 3.90.3 --alt-preset standard, but the newer version is faster.

Read the FAQ dude, answers all your questions.
