Here's a strange one.

I am unable to use FB2k while the modem is in use. It somehow ties-up the sound-card such that I am unable to use FB2k. This is a new(er) cpu 450MHz vs Old cpu at 266MHz both Win98.

INFO (CORE) : opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "file://D:\Music\Bob Dylan Greatest Hits\Like A Rolling Stone.mp3" (0)
ERROR (foo_output_std) : MMSYSTEM004 The specified device is already in use. Wait until it is free, and then try again.

As soon as I disconnect/hang-up the modem, the sound-card is immediately available for use by FB2k.

I have tried to turn-off the modem sound: <START> <Control Panel> <Modem> <Modem Properties> But this does not solve the issue.

I am able to listen to web-page audio and able to play music through Windows Media Player9 with the modem in-use & on the Internet.

I can connect to the Internet using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing, basically using the modem through another LAN cpu) and then FB2k does work properly.

The old cpu has no issue with FB2k 8.2 & simultaneous modem use.

Anyone have a clue how to resolve this conflict between the modem and fb2k?

Try using a different output mode (directsound <-> wave out) in foobar. Or try resolving any resource conflicts on the control panel between the soundcard and the modem

(just guessing though)

Maybe best to make sure that your soundcard is selected as primary output device in the "output preferences" (direct sound, wave out, or kernel streaming, depending what you are using) and see if the problem still persists.

Thanks,

It seems to be working!

Unsuccessful within "waveOut" when selecting the soundcard driver.

But success within "DirectSound" when selecting the soundcard driver!

Figured I was missing some switch setting.

Cudos!
