i run an internet radio stream in mp3 format but some listeners have written to me and mentioned that they cannot listen to my stream with foobar2000. many other listeners are able to enjoy the stream no prob, anyone know why this might occur? there is an intro file that plays when listeners tune in. the foobar users can hear this but nothing else.

It sounds like your intro file has ID3 tags. Foobar2000 stops when it sees the ID3v1 tag in the middle of the stream.

It is designed to be able to seek over ID3v1 tags in normal files, already a hack. This hack has not been extended to swallow 128 bytes when the reader does not support forward seeking.

I doubt this will be changed any time soon, at least officially. Besides, all you need to do is untag your intro stream, or find some broadcast software that automatically removes tags from such files before broadcasting, so you can opt to leave that crap in. (But seriously, does the file you're using for an intro really need tags? If the server isn't going to convert them properly to Shoutcast streamed data, just remove them.)

hmmm, thx i will try that, but it is possible that the sile is not tagged.

thanx for the info

You should probably only remove the tags from that one file.

i did so, but my user is still having the same issues. is there any other reason why this could be happening?

I had no problems with other streams but one. The fix was easy: I tried different streaming options. Buffer 128 kB, 25% and 50% worked with this one troublesome stream.
