Full Version: Multiformat Player with PCM-Output?

Hello,
I like to buy a universal CD/SAVD/DVD-A/DVD-V player.

The difficulty ist the rest of my equiptment. It runs in 24/96 mode and ist totally digital. What I need is a player who sends out 24/96 PCM on ALL formats. Especially important is that for SACD. This means the device should have an internal DSD to PCM Converter. I read some early multiformat players e.g. panasonic 563 had this feature.

I looked around but could not find out which unit to buy. A goog D/A-Stage is not important for me but a high quality 24/96 digital output for all formats.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Nice to find people interested in high-resolution audio. Unfortunately, iff your gear is S/PDIF, you will enjoy 96/24 only for some stereo material:

- Multichannel is technically out of S/PDIF's scope.
- Player and Disc often made to prohibit 96 khz as copy protection measure.

More advanced interfaces (HDMI etc) can handle denser digital flows. Availabe in for example Pioneer 868 player. Harder to find compatible amplifier or receiver outside high end, though.

Regarding SACD, I do not really see the point in converting it to 96/24. But I havenīt heard of any player/amplifier combination that avoids this intermediary step.
