Full Version: EAC+La command-line string

Could anyone help me to a working EAC string for use with La 0.4b? I've been puzzling through La's documentation that came with the setup file, been taking a shot at some strings yours truly tried to extract from the La frontend log file, nothing worked so far. I'm probably just overlooking something very measly, so please forgive my ignorance.

I'm trying to get EAC to compress to La "high" mode, with seeking disabled (as I intend to use these La files as high compression back-ups I'm not planning to ever actually listen to; playback is what FLAC is for), so I guess the -high and -noseek flags should be fitted in somewhere. Preferably including ID3s all in one movement.

Anyhow, to my surprise there was very little information readily available on La command-line usage. Neither via Google, nor on HA or any other audio resource. So you're my last hope wink.gif

Thanks in advance!

i was wondering the exact same thing for the exact same situation and ran into the exact same problem... unfortunate that this is the only thread i found on the topic, and there are no answers here yet. anyone know??

That should do it, i couldn't test with foobar as the plugin is built for an old version

Note: when i converted the .la file into .wav, the .wav file still had the id3 tag, if your gonna use LA for backups i reckon rip as Cue sheet and Wave to get around the poor tagging support (if any tag support)

thanks so much duck. that works alot better than anything i had come up with.if anyone else knows a way to incorporate the addition of a tag via the command line string, please let us know. thanks

i don't think LA supports tags at all.
Sure you can add them, but when decode the .la to a wave the tag is still there which means that the decoded file is not the same as the input file.

maybe it's a good idea to use OptimFROG instead, it does have tag support.

i honestly don't know much about the tagging process, but la claims to have "ID3 v1.1 tagging support," and in this thread,http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=29655&st=25, guruboolez says "LA has...tagging functionality." anyway, im sure someone on here knows definatively one way or the other, and how to do it correctly, hopefully using the command line string. thanks though

ok i have just done a bit compare of the original .wav and the version that has a tag in it after i has been decoded
CODE
INFO (foo_out_dsound_ex2) : Created stream: 44100Hz 24bps 2ch
INFO (foo_bitcompare) : Comparing:
INFO (foo_bitcompare) : location: "file://C:\Program Files\La\New Folder\APEv1.wav" (0)
INFO (foo_bitcompare) : location: "file://C:\Program Files\La\001 05 - See You On The Other Side.wav" (0)
INFO (foo_bitcompare) : No differences in decoded data found.
INFO (foo_bitcompare) : Finished successfully.

it say there is no difference, so you should be sweet using the settings in the pic.

Sorry about the false alarm unsure.gif

(I still don't understand how a file can be the same when one has a tag in it wacko.gif )

dont be sorry man. no big deal at all. thanks for the help! so, the crc check and external programs return code have no value w/ la? and also, if anyone knows how do tag with the command line string, that would still be preferable, right?

you don't need to enable or use the CRC check or the external programs return code.

if you put a tick in the add id3 tag, eac will do the tagging for you.
