I wish I knew how to code, but has anyone compiled the Lame source code using the OpenWatcom compiler? I think that would be fantastic if someone did!
It's the Watcom C/C++ and Fortran compilers, now open-source at http://www.openwatcom.org/

What would be the benefit of that? OpenWatcom isn't exactly known as being one of the fastest compilers around and GCC is available on more platforms and produces faster/better code.
If you don't want to compile yourself, I guess you'll have to live with Mitiok's and John33's compiles, which are both done with ICC.

Funny, I've always thought of Watcom as being the fastest compiler around.

I rembember reading (on Slashdot, not a very reliable source of information) that ICC has only recently caught up with old Watcom, and still doesn't produce as small or as fast code. I wish someone could test that?

Maybe I could try it. I know how to use the command-line. Does Lame come with a makefile? If I only have to type wmake it might work.

Everyone always assumes ICC is better. Is there any proof?
