Full Version: Batch 16-bit to 8-bit conversion?

Okay, I goofed. I have a project where I'm creating 1150 wav files and they're supposed to be 8-bit, 8kHz and I mistakenly saved them as 16-bit, 8kHz. This is using Sound Forge 7.0. I spent the money to upgrade only to now find out that Sony has dropped support for Batch Converter.

I used to own Sound Forge 4.x with the Batch Converter but long ago got rid of it so that's not available.

Is there anything out there that's equivalent? I'd love to find something like Batch Converter because later I also need to mix in background noise for all these.

Just for the record, Adobe Audition (aka Cool Edit Pro) also has a batch convert feature for sampling rate, bit depth, mono & stereo, normalization, and format

SoX can do what you want. You might have to write a little batch file to get it to process all the files in a directory.
