Has anyone heard of Stanton Final Scratch or Serato Scratch Live. If so, which is better and what are the main difference in your opinion. I am looking to pick up one of these however they both seem very good.

Thanks

I have heard lots and lots about Stanton Final Scratch, and absolutely nothing about Serato Scratch Live. I have heard DJ Craze, P-Love, and Q-Bert rave on about the Stanton, and although, in my experience, the lower end of the market Stanton stuff is APPAULING, if its good enough for those guys, its certainly good enough for you and me. smile.gif

Edit: Just didnt read right.

yeah, i saw dj craze using it about a year ago....but back then it was the only thing out of its kind....serato just came out last month but it has a lot more features it seems like than stanton...

serato allows for needle dropping, the other doesnt

stuff like that is important to me...serato scratch live also has a volume leveling option built in...
im interested to see if anyone has tried any of these yet

I have, (not active for some years.) been a record "thriller",
first began playing in the early 80`s. And i warmly recomend stanton.
(quality wise), there is now several options for a customer, but i still would go for
stanton.

I have a feeling some people do not know what final scratch excactly is. (could be wrong though smile.gif) it isnt a pair of turntables.
It consists of 2 vinyls with timecodes on them, a sort of adapter which sends the received timecodes to your PC and Software that receives the signal from that adapter. You can use it with Technics SL1200's too and also with any other type of turntable. Serato i know nothing about.
Dynamic Manic
thats correct...it works with any turn table and serato scratch live also works with cd mixers! even tho i have no respect for the cd dj as far as for what i do...but anyways yeah check out serato at www.serato.com

im not sure if stanton is updating to this idea but a major difference is time codes on the records...from what i understand stantons records have a looping time code so you cant needle drop but seratos has a continuous time code so you can needle drop

anyways thanks for the input im sure as time goes on people will have tried this out...i think its the new wave in djing especially since you dont have to cart around records to every place you go to

heh, why not, the work involved is virtually the same - it depends what you are after of course... At your standard trance night at a proper club round here, they may-as-well be using cd's - there are no tricks, just mix the last 2 minutes of the song before over the first 2 minutes of the new song smile.gif Having said that, by golly can those nights be good biggrin.gif

Of course, with your Turntablists or whatever you want to call them, or however they want to be known; this is of course no good... and although these 'turnablism' people recommend "Final Scratch" and whatever, in any interview, they will always say the same thing: "Its just.... its just not the same as using vinyl.".

I dont know, I've never seen them being used or tried it myself, so I wouldnt know smile.gif

Now you're going to get no respect from people like yourself, "what a shortcut", some people will think smile.gif
Dynamic Manic
yeah i know its not the same yet, and i agree it takes a big part out of being a dj...that is lookin thru the record store for rare must haves and stuff and building your library

however, you can take your current records and turn them into mp3s so you dont have to take them with you, plus i dunno about other poeple but its not going to stop me from goin to the record store

as technology gets better i think it will be exactly like using records pretty soon here

Ive seen some pretty famous djs use it to dj shows before but that was a while ago....i wanna know if anyone has used it!!
