I have a question regarding Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." Actually... it's a question about more than just one DSotM.
I've started to do a little independent research on this album, and have been learning more about the sources of each CD release. For instance, some versions were taken from a Dolby 15ips tape source. The new 30th Anniversary hybrid was taken from the original master tape. My question is this: What of the other releases, such as the UK/Japan Harvest release or the 1992 remaster?
The reason I'm asking is because I recently found out something about the '92 remaster: There is some very noticeable tape degradation in places. So if the '92 remaster was sourced from the original master tape, this means that the same degradation is probably evident (and louder, in the PCM's case) in the 30th Anniversary remaster as well.
I have a sample of a section of "Money" from the '92 remaster where the tape degradation is noticeable, and a sample from my version (Capitol release from late 80's/1990?) for comparison's sake. If anyone's interested, I can upload them. The samples are 13 seconds long.
Sorry the post is so long (what makes it worse is that this is my first post!), but if you can't already tell, I'm a HUGE geek when it comes to stuff like this. Anyway, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Edit : changed the topic (was "question")

Friendly bump.
I posted this in the wrong topic section earlier (I'm new to this) and didn't have a very clear title initially (again, I'm new to this). So can anyone help me out with this one? I know DSotM is one of the most thoroughly discussed albums amongst audiophiles, so I'm hoping someone on this board can give me a hand.
And if anyone's interested to hear the samples I mentioned in the first post, I still have them.
Thanks again.

Check out
this thread in the uploads section for samples from three different masterings of this album at several points.
You might try PMing ChangFest and Sebastian directly to see if they're willing to share the clips of the same songs from the versions they own.
You could list what point in the song you're referring to as well

I actually did check out that thread before, and it was part of the inspiration for my research.

It's just at the end of the saxophone solo. The '92 remaster has audible tape degradation on the right channel just a little before the first guitar solo kicks in. The late 80's/1990(?) release doesn't have this problem. I don't know if the 30th anniversary release has this problem or not.
