I've heard that this is the best place to get help with audio, so here's my dilema.

I've got some songs from a CD ripped to ogg. The volume of the CD is lower than other CD's, so that means the files are also. I'm wondering if there's a program that will let me fix the volume of the files. I've tried plug-ins, but they don't work the way I want them to. Anyone know of any such program? Thanks in advance for anyone who knows.

Tools to directly alter the volume are possible, but don't exist yet. ( http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....ndpost&p=196215 )

Tools to calculate the playback volume, and modify the volume on-the-fly at playback do exist. You could do a search for ReplayGain here to get an idea of how it works.

The tool you will need in this case is a ReplayGain scanner. There are two scanners available, as far as I know. One is vorbisgain, and the other is foobar2000.

edit: You'll also need a playback program that supports ReplayGain. Winamp2, Winamp5, and foobar2000 will work.
