I need help to set up a Software Compressor to decode an lp but am not able to establish the 1. attack rate
2. decay rate
3. threshold
to do this successfully. The only information I have is that it was Encoded 2:1 linearly. I have set up the Compression Ratio to 0.5:1.

Thanks for any help.

It is my recollection (I was actually using dbx equipment in the 60's and 70's) that the compression ration was 2db/1db. If your using a simple voltage ration of 2/1, it's not going to work. Also seems like some equalization was used. The upper midrange frequencies were boosted slightly. I'm going strickly from memory here. Anyway, bottom line is that you might have an easier time locating a dbx decoder instead of seeking out detailed specs and programming your own.

Thank you Woody, I forgot about the EQ! explains the strange tonal balance. I have been looking out for a Decoder (my DBX units are defunct sad.gif )

This lp will have to go on the back-burner again.
