I have some long MP3 files (30+ minutes each) that I want to split up into a bunch of smaller 5-minute MP3s. Are there tools out there that will do this? Can anyone recommend some?

MP3DirectCut or Musicutter

I use musiccutter in combination with mp3cue.

Load the file in winamp, set the points where you want to split with mp3cue then use the resulting cue sheet with musicutter.

I could never find an online guide for mp3 directcut and its interface was not intuitive for me.

True. I used a while to figure it out myself. Load up an MP3, click once at the place where you want a cue point, then hit the [del] button. Do this for every place you want a cue point. Then File->Save split, to split the MP3
