Hi, a few questions.
Is there a pluging for fb2k that is like foo_setyear for quickly setting the genre? (if so, where I would like it)
Next, I guess I could try to modify the foo_setyear to do this, but the SDK really scares me as I have not programmed in C in a very long time. Is there a turoial on getting started with the fb2k SDK? Maybe that would point me in the right direction as far as getting existing and functioning source to compile (I have never even compiled a DLL at all)
Finally, would anyone else even care about a plugin like this? (just curious)
Thanks.
How about using the default properties window?
I don't really see how a foo_setyear workalike would make this any easier.

Default properties window?
I was just thinking that you right click, select Masstagger then have a Set Genre that opens up to the several menus like A-D, E-G, etc and the genres are there, you click the genre and it sets is.

Search for foo_quicktag plugin.

Yes, the
Quick Tag plugin should do what youre looking for.
If you want to have a try at foobar plugin making, head to the Development forum and look for the SDK tutorial. It's a pretty good tutorial to get you started... You will, however, need to know how to compile a dll file which you said you weren't familiar with. I might suggest you look into tutorials on C++ and on using C++ with your prefered compiler/IDE first.
As for quicktag, I use it, too, for foo_setyear-like tagging for genres common in my collection.
