Just another dumb Newbie question, but I'm stumped. I try encoding with Razorlame and no matter what settings I put in I'm getting the following error message:

Encoded 0 files in 0:00:01
There were unexpected LAME messages for 14 files, please check log for error messages.

Please help. What the hey am I doing wrong? I am starting with perfect wav files ripped using EAC. I appreciate any and all info. Thanks.

Have you set the path to LAME encoder?

Do you use a LAME version which Razorlame is capable of? I recall that Razorlame had some problems with the newest LAME encoders. I don't know if this is already fixed.

'the duke' already mentioned to set the path to the LAME.exe correctly...
Under 'edit' there are 'Options' and 'LAME options', open 'Options' and specify the path correctly...
If you get it to work make sure you use one of the --alt-presets for encoding music.
'Lame Options' ... 'Expert' ... 'custom options' ... "--alt-preset standard" (or instead of 'standard' use 'extreme' / 'insane' or any desired bitrate you want to achieve, but don't go too low)

Another statement slightly off topic: If you are ripping with EAC then you don't have to encode your wav's separately using Razorlame and LAME.exe.
You can embed this process in EAC, taggging included! :flipoff:

There are several websites where you could find information about that, one would be the following: http://users.du.se/~kdo/mpc/quick_guide.htm#mp3

check the section 'How to configure EAC to use Lame encoder as "external compressor"'

hi,

if you are using the ABR mode, try to give a "standard" target, let's say 128 or 256, and give it a try
