Hi!

I´ve created mp3 files from cds usinf EAC and Lame.
All my settings are just according to Chris Myden`s recommendations and the files sound perfectly alright.
The problem ist that when I check them in the simple free software Mp3Test some of them are said to contain errors(rate change errors).
Have I done something wrong or is there something wrong with mp3Test?

I´d be thankful for an answer.

regards
Peter

Maybe this is the problem

On MP3Test's web page they say
------------------
Known Bugs:

- Currently VBR (Variable Bitrate MP3s aren't supported and will result in 99% errors, but the files are in good quality)

Thanks for a quick solution to the problem. That´s probably the reason.
There´s probably no need to check the files after they´ve been created with EAC nad lame, or what do you say?

I would say no, there is no need as long as you are doing the extraction and encoding yourself with the EAC/Lame combination. The "need" is probably a lot bigger when downloading tracks from p2p networks.

...sometimes the VBR header is missing after encoding with EAC and LAME.exe (Should happen rarely)

See the follwoing thread how to fix it: A(nother) prog to repair VBR mp3's with missing VBR headers

If you want to check mp3's missing frames you could use mp3trim (get it from this homepage).
I always use it for every downloaded mp3 before i would add it to my collection (using also EncSpot, of course to stay away from XING or Blade encoded files).

I'm using Feurio! to burn Audio CD's, it will also check the mp3's you're adding to an Audio CD collection for corruption, works great for me!

I´ll try some of the software you recommended.
Thanks for your tips.
