Full Version: MPC On-the-fly encoding on CDex 1.51

I am trying to figure out a way to have mppenc.exe 1.14b behave like a DLL (on-the-fly encoding) on CDex 1.51.

In the long help of mppenc.exe, it says if you use - as the input finename it is taken as a stdin, so I checked the on-the-fly encoding box and then typed in "--quality 5 --xlevel - %2" in the Parameter string section, but it didn't work (error: cannot send data to external encoder). The Help file on CDex only explains how to set it up so that it encodes after the WAV file is ripped, not on-the-fly, even though there is a checkbox for On-the-fly encoding for External Musepack Encoder.

Has anyone ever got this to work?

I haven't had success with 1.14b. But 1.15 seems to work fine with CDex.

OK. I have just confirmed that 1.15r does work. Thanks for your advise smile.gif

I just did a quick search for "on-the-fly" in the MPC forum here, and duh! there was a thread just like this one blush.gif. And you wrote there that you got 1.14 to work on Win2k? Can anyone else confirm that?

IIRC, that wasn't for 'on-the-fly'. The problem I had at the time was CDex not doing anything at all. smile.gif

Oops, sorry, I didn't read the entire thread carefully.
So I guess if you really want to encode on-the-fly, you have to use 1.15 and get used to that "unstable/experimental" tag...

Thanks again smile.gif
