QT 6.6 in the Tiger WWDC beta has options for both multichannel and VBR so it will definitely come. They apparently wanted to fine-tune it before releasing it, unlike Nero ;-)

at least the encoder in 6.5.1 is definitely not cbr, but rather abr it seems
