You might be an "audiophile" if...

You listen to music while watching TV.
You spend more on music than on food.
You consider your headphones part of your wardrobe.
Your audio equipment uses more power than your refrigerator, microwave, and air conditioner combined.
When your wife said, "Honey, did you bring up the cans?", you thought she was talking about your headphones.
You have a seperate room just for storing your vinyl collection.
You named your speakers.
You named your children after brands of high end audio equipment.
You made up your own drinking game called "ABX 10/10 or drink!!!"
You use LAME --alt-preset insane for your drinking game.
You are the only one NOT drunk after playing your drinking game.

^^ Some I stole (first 3), some I made up (rest of them).

Let's hear some more. smile.gif

"Reading Hydrogenaudio causes super anti-placebo (quality degradation) when you are listening lossy music while reading."

Good ones. :)

How 'bout:

You "settle" for Apple Lossless on your iPod only because iPods can't play vinyl.
ddrawley
You resist converting to Linux on all your systems because Foobar2000 has not been ported yet.
Audible!
Your headphone amplifier costs more than your car.
ddrawley
You pay more interest on the Car Audio than the car loan.
You go around trying to convert people to FLAC. When asked if you represent FLAC, you reply "Unofficially."
The UPS and power filters on your stereo are better than those on your computer.
You got Bluetooth on your PDA just to keep in touch with the HydrogenAudio forums.
You consider $10,000 US for a stereo a nice beginner system.
You find yourself passionately debating analog vs digital, lossless vs lossy.
You bought a server farm just to support your lossless audio library.
ChangFest
You have 5 copies of the same album, but all in different mediums

You relate to at least half of the posts in this thread

that applies to me with some OTR recordings, especially the 1938 Mercury Theater 'War of the Worlds' broadcast.

You don't own telephone 'cos you can't stand its sound quality.

You might be an audiophile if you spend more time futzing with your speaker placement than you do actually sitting in your intended listening position.

While it doesn't target audio quality, here goes:

You might be an audiophile when flexiblity of Matroska excites you

Take that how you will unsure.gif

I'm pretty new to hydrogenaudio after hanging out with the mainstream (online) crowd for a while. When I first saw this thread I thought you were just makin' fun of the snake-oil crowd. I didn't realize that you digital folks consider yourselves audiophiles. I figured that was a dirty word in these parts...all those people who DON'T BELIEVE in ABX testing. So you objectivist ABXers call yourselves audiophiles, too?

Not making any kind of point here; just sincerely interested.

Full disclosure: I'm an occassional contributor to that bible of subjectivist audio, Stereophile. I don't do reviews though.

and you were doing so fine .. biggrin.gif

seriously : nope, i dont even know what that word is supposed to mean, the word reminds me of some coworker who keeps talking about his amplifier all the time really (as if amplifiers were some really interesting devices...)

You might be an audiophile if you have stereosexual tendencies laugh.gif .

Hilarious thread! Here is one for you. I've become insanely careful about germs ever since having a really bad ear/nose/throat infection many years ago. It's no so much about pain & feeling utterly miserable that worries me, it's more so about the hearing damage that could result. I really love my music, as well as my HT. When it comes right down to it, I'd rather go blind than deaf I think. biggrin.gif
