so i want to encode a certain clip for web (from premiere pro), somehow i came to the conclusion that from all the options qt sucks the least, so the questions are:

- what codec to use for video and for audio , what settings (there should be hi-band and dial-up versions of the same clip)?
- how to write a corect code so that the user will be able to select from dial-up to hi-band and to hi-band-fullscreen? (what exactly needs to be done on the server and on the user side so i can asure the fullscreen playback ...)
- is it possible to hide the controllers until the video clip is fully or partially loaded?

1. If you want good quality, you need Sorenson 3 codec or you need to encode using MPEG-4 simple profile (preferably using 3ivx or Xvid (3ivx is the easier option.)). The standard version of Quicktime does have a decoder for both of them.

2. The movie trailers which are available at Apple's website are encoded at different resolution/bitrate for each size option. I.e. if you want to have different resolution/bitrate combinations you need to have many files.

3. I don't think so.
