I use masstag to tag up new albums and stuff all the time, and i use the Auto Track Number option to tag the tracks.. but i have a little problem with the numbering..

i think it should start with 01, instead of 1.

whenever i load an album up, it goes, 1, 10, 2, 3, 4, etc... it would be alot easier if it went 01, 02, 03.. 10.. etc...

correct me if im wrong, or could this be changed?

Masstagger->Format value from other fields:
Destination value: TRACKNUMBER
Formatting patter: $num(%tracknumber%,2)

Or you can sort using $tracknumber()

I vote for $tracknumber() too It's nice because no retagging is neccessary this way.

Does this function exist only in 0.8.x versions? The titleformat help is still for 0.7. Where can I find any titleformat changes for 0.8.x?

Just about everything you can think of can be done with masstagger. I've even used it to rename jpg's.
