hello, i am using the modified 3.90.3 build in gordian knot (uses the lame_enc.dll). i am using the following switches:

--alt-preset cbr 96 --resample 44.1

the resulting mp3, however, is resampled to 32k. is this a problem with the --alt-preset switch? if not, why does this happen, and how do i fix it?

thanks,
kevin

Since I do not know how GK is passing parameters to the dll, I can not answer.

However, you have to know that a 32kHz sampling freq is probably more optimal than 44.1kHz for a 96kbps encode.

By forcing 44.1kHz you are likely to reduce quality just in order to have some "psychological satisfaction"

LAME 3.90.3 will not allow you to encode at 44.1k sample rate for this low bitrate. Because it is not optimal for this bitrate range. However, LAME version 3.92 or higher will let you encode at 44.1k resample rate for such low bitrate.

AFAIK, proper syntax is to give the sampling rate in Hz rather than kHz.

Try --resample 44100.
