hi there,

i recently recorded madonna's detroit concert from tv (got a dvb-card). i separated the audio from the video-track (mpa), converted it to wav using winamp und finally cut it into separate tracks.

tv-station said that the soundtrack is dolby surround. now here are the questions:

1. will the dolby-surround-effects survive mp3-compression?
2. or do I have to convert the wav-files from dolby stereo to simple stereo before compression (and how could I do that)?

The --nssafejoint LAME switch protects phase information (Dolby Surround)

All --alt-presets use --nssafejoint by default, so I would recommend using them to encode your tune.

Roberto.
