Every time after i reboot, a strange thing called search assistant will appear on my tools(?).
(i'm using windows xp in chinese, so i don't really know what does it called.)

And it'll over-write the settings of the .... hmmm.... the line on the bottom which has the 'start'?(what does it called?? smile.gif)

how do i really remove these little programs i don't want to have??
Using which software to kill them??
Because i often use credit card to purchase things on the internet, so i'm really afraid that my credit card numbers will be known by others.

How do i kill those spywares and trojan programs??

i really don't want to have those little programs which i don't need and which always change my settings and those will let crackers know what is in my computer and they can steal them from me.
(i have some programs i created in my computer smile.gif)

Thanks...

(the 'system idle process' is always getting 98% cpu usage...is that a virus-caused?)

I don't have the antivirus software....should i get one?

(i hope you know what i've been writing.)

Idle means not doing anything. So 98% idle means 2% CPU usage.

And yes, definitely get an Antivirus software!

I second Spybot S & D, a great product.

For additional protection, try this, also a great product.

But which one to use??

I used to have antivirus software on my computer.
It always got nervous with e-mails and it slows up the booting.
(I have IDE RAID which has already taken a lot of time booting.)

(It takes about a minute to boot into windows xp.)

I suggest you AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition from www.grisoft.com
