I want to purchase a new 4G iPods 40 GB unit and I have recently read the Apple requirements for using an iPod with Mac OS X. They claim you need a 'built-in' firewire card. I just added a new firewire/usb 2.0 Compusa combo card to my old beige G3 running OS X 10.2.8.

Does anyone now if the iPod will work with add on card, or do I need to have a Mac that comes w/a factory installed firewire card? I am not sure if the card I installed is powered or not.
