Full Version: could fb2k have corrupted my files?

metamorphoise
hi, recently i have been having problems with mp3 files loosing their tags and developing resynch problems (sometimes bad enough to make them unplayable)

i thought it was a problem with my harddrive (wd2000jb) so i bought another wd2000jb, used mp3utility to weed out the corrupted files/albums and renamed my music library to the new harddrive with fb2k....all was good for probably about a week

earlier today, i retagged/renamed (onto the new harddrive) about 10gb of albums i had to rerip/download...and same thing's happened...most of the files now on new harddrive have resynch errors, and about half have lost their tags
as yet, no other files on the new harddrive have delevoped errors...only the ones i put there today

i noticed that when mp3 errors first started appearing on the old harddrive, they tended to appear on files i had recently played...so i changed foo_playcount's option to 'only update files in database'

i guess, i want to know if its possible for fb2k to corrupt files like this...or if it has to be another software problem.....i doubt it's hardware unless my motherboard's onboard raid is playing up? :s
(its not just mp3s, there are ogg and mpc's corrupted too)

environment info:
fb2k 0.8.2 case's special installer with most popular/usefull plugins
win xp pro
2 wd2000jbs running on motherboards onboard highpoint raid (not in array, just seperate)

Isn't your computer overclocked? There may be some problems with PCI, working over its specification (33MHz), and other components like hard disk controllers...
