A lot of people are reporting jerky video when divx5 is muxed with vorbis into .ogg (or .ogm) file and I'm wondering, does the latest OggDS filter completely solve this problem? I really like ogg and don't want to go back to crappy mp3 and avi if I don't have to.

You'll probably get a better reply from a video compression discussion board, like http://forum.doom9.org.

Actually, let me rephrase: you'll probably get a bitter and useless reply from one of the board admins. Better do your own research on that forum.

FYI, My Divx5/Vorbis .ogm rips had no problems.

I've heard something about the DivX/Ogg combo needing more CPU power (than the usual DivX/MP3 combo). Maybe people who've complained about jerky playback have a lower-end computer.

Also, I haven't had problems using DivX + Ogg either.

I am not up to date. But last time I checked, using divx5+ogg causes trouble with the ffdshow filters. Works fine when you let the divx codec do the decoding.
More info: problem showed up with divx 5.0.1 when using b-frames. 5.0.1 should be fixed. Don't know about 5.0.2.

Latest FFDSHOW and Divx 5.02 give me zero problems. No crashes, no crap frames in OGG containers either. ffdshow has managed to do what the divx filters can not! Woot!

You don't always have to go to Doom9. Some times we come here. hehe

At first I wanted to post at doom9.org, but I have to wait 5 days from registration to add a post there.
I finally watched a few .ogm movies (divx5.02 and vorbis) and at some posotions in a movie (always the same ones) video jumps cca. 0.1 sec bacwards and goes on, you hardly notice, but it is an error. With ffdshow installed this problem is fixed, but when skipping to another position in a movie, it stops playing and I have to reopen the .ogm file.

So the problem is in the current filters, not in the Oggmux and I guess it does pay off to use ogg instead of avi/mp3, because you still get good file and eventually filters will improve so this is only a temporal playback problem.

last thingy i tried was ogg encoded with q4.9 and divx 5.0.2 with b frames, gmc and psy-normal, after muxing audio with oggmux i get black picture and good sound, but mplayer 6.4 crashes few seconds later...

oh, thats on winxp with matrox etv 450 card + latest oggds filters.

No picture and crashing? Sounds like you are using an old version of ffdshow. It used to happen to me as well. Make sure all the software involved is up to date.

ffdshow as general purpose DivX/XviD decoding filter listen on doom9's dl page? i thought that divx5 filters should be enough?
