Hello. I'm a newb, but I'm slowly getting a grasp on Foobar2000. I've already recommended it to all my friends.
I'm having a problem with my tracks remembering their tags. First of all, they're all waves. I think that's the problem. As far as I know waves don't support tagging.
However, when I'm running FB2k, they tag okay and play okay. When I close FB2k they forget all the tags and I have to tag them all next I open FB2k. Now, waves are only the intermediary format. I encode them to ape and mp3, but I like to listen to them as I'm encoding. Is there anyway to coax them into keeping their tags so when I reopen FB2k, I don't have to format them all again?
Thanks!
Activating database should fix your problem.
If not...covert to any loseless format like flac or ape
Prefs|Playback|Input|Standard inputs -> WAV tag writing -> Enable "Write APEv2 tags to WAV files (strongly disrecommended)".
If it's strongly disrecommended, is that by you (someone who has a personal experience) or is that a general recommendation by FB2k?

"Strongly disrecommended" is in the name of the switch. But if you enable the database, then you don't have to write tags to the files themselves - they will remain in the foobar database, until you move or rename or remove-and-readd the files to foobar.
