Böreck
UniversalFront is a script-based frontend for audio en- and decoders and gainprograms.
It should be more stable than the last release.

-Again, new INI-saving-unit
-New progress-guess feature
-New export to .bat function. Note that only backendcall/tagging/gaining are exportet. (I don't know if it works correctly on Win9X)
-Many Bugfixes and small changes

Website:

Download:
Zip: UniversalFront_Beta1.2.zip
Installer: UniversalFront_Beta12.exe

Thanks to phase, R.A.F. , Ganymed and Madah.

Note: Old INI-Files and DefaultJob.ufj - File are not compatible with the new Version.

Wonderful job Böreck.
I haven't had much chance to try it yet. So far I am pleased with it.
I'm glad to see you are continuing work on your front-end.
Thanks a lot, tec

hi there... this frontend is really good, but there is a little option that kinda bugs me... when i check the "delete sourcefiles after done" option, i was wondering if i miss some option that gives me the option to disable that anoying warning in the end of each encode... is there a way for the frontend simply delete file , no queations asked, cause if theres more them one file to encode at the end of each file it asks, and dont go to the next file unless i click in that "are u sure u wanna delete these... :-)" yes or no stuff... its kinda anoying... at least for me.

but in overall these is my frontend of choice!

Well, maybe I'm wrong, but I think that depends on the encoder you're using. Most encoders have an option to "say yes to all warnings", or something similar. You could add this tag in the additional options field. Have a look at your encoder's documentation to find the setting.

Anyway, I just stopped by to say thanks to Böreck for his great frontend. Very flexible. Very good work, thanks a lot smile.gif

Seems to be a slight bug which was remaining in the code. Normally the confirmation-question should be done only one time at the beginning of the encoding-process. - I´ll ask Böreck to check it out and correct it (maybe he already read it).

tks for the atention, i know that mpc has a --deleteinput function that is native of the codec , but i dont know if LAME has something like it...

but all i can say is that these is a great work, the best universal frontend i ever tested, i just love the possibility to make scripts for it.

Yesterday Böreck sent me a new, fixed version of UniversalFront. So: Stay tuned for the bugfixed version during the next days/weeks.

Hello

I am using UniversalFront (v1.2 Beta) to do this:

- Convert from wave to flac. The good thing with UniversalFront is, that I must only define a parent directory and it goes through all the subdirectories (albums).
I prefer to write the target file into the same directory as the source file.

- Tag the converted files.

- Delete the source file. In principle this works (check the appropriate checkbox in the options menu) But now comes the really annoying stuff:
Everytime a source file should be - of course automatically - deleted, a message box pops up and asks me, if I really want to delete this file

This makes the program (as long as I want to use the same directory for source and target file) completely unusable ... what a pity.

I'm sure the above mentioned thing is just a very small change in the code ...

This bug is already being fixed since a longer time, but only in a developer-build (see above).
I´m talking to Böreck and ask him to release a final bugfixed version (now for real). Hope to catch him during the next few days.

Cheers....

Edit:
I just sent him an ICQ offline-message.

Thanks very much R.A.F.!
Meanwhile I sent Boereck a mail. I got a kind answer and also a link to the fixed 1.2 beta version. So I'm quite happy now rolleyes.gif
