Hey, I want to do a complete hard drive backup to DVD's if that possbile. Iv already tried nero's but it proved to be fatal

. Are there any other pieces of software that allow me to do such things?

PS Open-Source would be great

I have just tried Norton Ghost 2003. Again, this was a failure. I am using an EXTERNAL DVD recorder to try and burn the backups.

Are there any messages in nero??

Although i have internal dvd recorder instead of a external, i backed up almost 25 dvds from my old hard drive using nero before it was dead.

and copying data from dvds into new drive has no trouble....

well, no, i tested this out on another drive, and when i tried to restore it, the restore program just locks.

AFAIK, Nero will also fail to copy files which are in use.
