On a french forum, someone said that Ogg 1.0 has come but I see no topic about it on Hydrogen or on the official website (that's would be a very important news).
If Yes, is it tuned for high quality or just for low-bitrates (P2P, streaming,...) ?
My secund question is : which quality is really "CD-like" ? (on a very good Hi-fi system, not on Cool-edit)?
Thanks

HUH?

Have you looked at the news part of the main page?

"Xiphophorus released tonight Ogg Vorbis 1.0"

The official website will only show the news on Sunday, the official launch date.

Ok but what does it mean exactly.
I know ogg is the best at low bitrate but does 1.0 mean that ogg is good enough now for archiving, like MPC?
If yes, which quality is "MPC Xtrem-like"?

I would still say that ogg is too unstable when it comes to quality than mpc is. There are still many samples where ogg is not perfect, but only a handfull that cause trouble for musepack. This has been said many times already, but is still valid after the release of vorbis 1.0. But wait a few years and I'm sure that vorbis will be as well tuned as musepack is today.

A few years??

In a few years I expect to be able to carry my entire music collection in lossless format on a chip embedded in my skull.

The official release date is July 14. But the code is already in the CVS. The full set of official binaries, etc., will be available at vorbis.com on the 14th.smile.gif

But, you can already get most of them at the usual place.wink.gif
